March 21-22: Centennial Kickoff Event
News
The little town that captured the attention of the world 100 years ago is about to do it again, although perhaps not on the same scale as we did in 1925.
Beginning in March 2025, Dayton and Rhea County will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Scopes Trial, remembering the ways that story has been told. Bryan College, the Rhea County Historical Society, Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation, Rhea Economic Development Council, and the Rhea County Tourism office are working together on a Centennial celebration that will offer visitors an entertaining – and historically accurate – retrospective of the trial.
Speakers, exhibits, silent films, and a dramatization of the Scopes Trial will be presented in the courtroom where the original trial took place. And like 1925, there will be fun for the whole family – most of it free.
We invite you to check scopes100.com regularly for updates and news. Join us as we celebrate “The World’s Most Famous Court Trial.”
